Field Emission Data Collection

Riad and I ran a data collection program that lowered cavity gradients one at a time in consistent step sizes across 1L22, 1L23, 1L24, and 1L25. Before changing a gradient, all of the phases were given a random offset within +/- 5 degrees from their initial "on crest" values. The order in which cavities were turned down was randomized.

We performed an automated search procedure to find field emission onset. First we walked cavities up in 1 MV/m steps from 5 MV/m until we found an increase in NDX current signals on any of the detectors from 1L22 - 1L26. Each cavity was set 2.5 MV/m below the gradient where radiation was observed. Individual cavities were stepped up in 0.125 MV/m increments until radiation was observed. The highest gradient without field emission was recorded as the field emission onset value. Values given below.
